Principal's Message

Hello! Welcome to Bobby Ray Memorial Elementary School!  We are a PreK-5 Title I school and participate in the RTI2B (positive behavior) program. We are a school rich in tradition and history.  Our namesake, Robert (Bobby) Ray, was a national hero known for serving our country with bravery and honor and giving his life to preserve our freedom. While our goal is to provide students with the knowledge and skills to become lifelong learners and productive members of society, we hope to also instill that same sense of pride and service that Mr. Ray exhibited.

I am a native of Warren County and the Morrison community. I hold a Bachelor of Science degree from Tennessee Technological University in Education (Secondary Social Sciences), a Master of Arts degree (Education) from Cumberland University, and a Specialist in Education degree (Administration & Supervision) from Middle Tennessee State University. My husband, Jim, and I have been married for over 35 years. We are the parents of two daughters and have seven grandchildren. We are members of Central Church of Christ where I have taught primarily ladies classes and cradle roll. I enjoy cooking, reading, decorating, traveling, supporting the Pioneers and the Tennessee Vols and our grandchildren's activities.

Professionally,  I have served as president of the Warren County Education Association and of the Tennessee Cheer Coaches and Advisors Association. I have served on numerous visiting teams for the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. I am a Life member of McMinnville Junior Auxiliary, a graduate of Leadership McMinnville, the Warren County Schools Leadership Institute, and currently, the Upper Cumberland representative to the Tennessee Principal's Study Council.

I have taught for 30+ years in classrooms at Boyd, Morrison, Centertown and Warren County High School. Early in my career, I was a substitute teacher and taught in every school in our county and in every grade! I was also an assistant principal at the high school. Throughout my years as an educator, I have learned many things including the fact that while the outside may be different, inside all children are the same. They want to be treated with respect and love by those around them.  They will accomplish far more than you might think, and, you should always expect the unexpected!

Thank you for sharing your precious children with us. Please contact me with your suggestions or concerns.

Respectfully yours,

Mrs. Monti Hillis, Ed.S.
